1. this cardigan is black.  these pants are navy.  i thought about wearing all black with this cardigan, but throwing two patterned pieces together seemed like a better idea.
2. i'm definitely big into patterned pants these days.  i only have a few pairs of pants that work with steel-toed boots and i was getting pretty sick of wearing them all the time.  i totally fixed this last week by placing a gap pants order.  more patterns are on their way!
3. these pants totally feel like pajamas...and kinda look like them too when they're paired with slippers.  basically i was super duper comfy all day at work.

[three things]
1. apparently ever time i had my photo taken on this trip i was wearing a scarf.  
2. this was the day that i ended up buying a bunch of clothes at cos.  it was also the day that i had spinach cheesecake for breakfast.  this is what happens when you order food by pointing at things.  it turned out to be super yummy and much more cake-ish than spinach-ish.  
3. after looking at all these photos from our trip, i feel like i need to wear some serious bright colors this month to make up for all the gray that i wore (and purchased! uh-oh!) in may.

[three things]
1. after london, we flew to germany to eat cured meats, go to more museums, and test out my german from high school.  it turns out that being able to tell people that holger was at the discotheque on tuesday is not actually useful, but i did manage to order soup one day in german with no hand gestures.  and it was a really good bowl of soup!  
2. anywho, these photos were taken at the glienecke palace in potsdam on the most perfect weather day of the trip.  hey look, i'm finally not wearing that leather jacket!
3. while we were walking around the grounds of the palace we accidentally snuck up on a guy having some sort of serious stare off into the distance.  apparently we wear quieter shoes than i thought!

[three things]
1. this was one of those days in london when i piled on every layer that i had in my suitcase.  i had only brought one jacket with me, so layering the vest over it made it more like my favorite winter coats.
2. you can tell how much we walked around in london by how happy i look in niketown trying on sneakers.  
3. why aren't busy intersections in the u.s. called circuses?  it is the perfect term for this type of pedestrian-bus-car situation!

[three things]
1. i posed with that phone booth so that you can totally tell what country we were in!  it was an actual working telephone booth and a line started forming while the boy was taking these photos even though there were like a bunch of other red boxes close by.  i thought maybe somebody needed to use the phone, but nope, it was just other tourists wanting to take photos.
2. it was a little rainy on this particular day, so we ducked into the tate modern for a little bit.  the turbine hall is closed, so the museum wasn't very crowded.  i absolutely love art museums, so the crummy weather allowed for a whole bunch of museum-ing while we were abroad.  i got a history of art minor in undergrad mostly because i liked classes that involved field trips to museums.  so now i just have to organize my own field trips to museums!  but yeah, we may or may not have gone to NINE museums during the course of our trip.  
3. last time we went on a big trip i decided that i didn't want to look like a tourist, so i was super anti-backpack.  well, after dragging a heavy tote bag around for a couple weeks, i am now pro-backpack.  the weight of our camera, snacks, and water for the day adds up and so i bought the plainest and grayest backpack i could find before we left.  and since only tourists look up at buildings, i am screwed when it comes to looking like a local anyway!

[three things]
1. i'm going to take a minute this week to post a few of my outfits from our honeymoon adventures.  it was colder and rainier than the weather forecast was predicting when i packed, so there was a lot more pants and warm layers rather than cute dresses and ballet flats.  
2. london is totes one of my favorite cities. we were there for a few days five years ago and since our transatlantic flight was into heathrow, we decided to spend a few days there again and check a few more things off our sightseeing list.  and go to the clocks gallery at the british museum for a second time.  even though i don't normally wear a watch, i am apparently endlessly amused by super old clocks that still keep time.  
3. this hat that the boy had packed was total lifesaver.  it was especially cold the first morning that we were walking around and i would've needed like six cups of hot chocolate without it.  with it i only needed two.
