[three things]
1. the difference between this silk tank and polyester pants definitely becomes more obvious when it gets hot out.  ick.  i recently finished reading overdressed, so i'm now very suspicious of cheap and/or polyester clothes.  double ick.
2. pattern mixing galore!  birds and geometric lines and snakeskin?  yup.  that just happened.
3. i've been really liking the combination of slouchy pieces with heels lately.  it might just be right combination of comfy and dressed up for me.  jill has this theory about combining something neutral, casual, and dressy and i am definitely on board with this.

dotty, short hair, and summer dresses

[three things]
1. i had been growing my hair out for what seemed like forever for the wedding and had planned to cut it all off right after.  it took me a little while, but i finally made the appointment for the big chop.  it's a wee bit longer than i wanted, but that's much easier to fix than the opposite problem!  
2. these wedges are crazy tall.  i haven't worn them in awhile and had forgotten what it's like to be a tall person for a day.  
3. i'm definitely more open to longer hemlines than i used to be.  i think kate's blog might have a lot to do with this.  sometimes i need to wear taller shoes to avoid feeling frumpy, but it's definitely better to be wearing a skirt that's too long than one that's too short!

creative: sweatshirt in the summer?  yup, i work in a freezing office and then de-layer as soon as i hit the parking garage.  the brightness of this sweatshirt is just so dang cheery that i didn't want to put it away for the summer!  
young: bright red sweatshirt with a shiny foil print.  
professional: a pencil skirt+grown-up heels.  i thrifted a pair of snakeskin print heels like five years ago, but they were crazy uncomfortable and way too tall to wear all day.  when i saw these mid-height heels on clearance i was super excited to add some patterned heels to my work lineup.

[three things]
1. i already owned this dress in rust and black, but still jumped to bid on the gray version when one popped up on ebay.  it's a little too short for work without tights, but perfect for summer weekend-ing. 
2. i am smitten with this crazy bright coral-red nail polish.  i just keep re-painting my nails the same color when it starts chipping.  i kind of like the idea of sticking with one color for a whole season even if it totally doesn't go with half of my outfits.  
3. i have to work five whole days this week which seems super oppressive after having short weeks the last two.  i have two happy hour adventures on my calendar for this week though, so that should help a little.

1. the other day when i really did not want to go to work, i threw on my favorite comfy basics, added heels and a stack of necklaces, and called it good.  i thought i would feel under-dressed at work, but the heels and shiny jewelry totally counteracted the pajama-ness of this shirt.  
2. giant bun!  it turned into a frizz-ball by the time i took these photos, but it was super humid out.  
3. i totes missed canada day on monday! so, northern neighbors, happy (belated) holiday!  and happy fourth of july tomorrow to my stateside friends!
