dotty, put a bird on it, and glitter
skirt: thrifted
tights: simply vera (similar)
boots: target+some sparkle paint(similar)
number of bird species on this shirt that i can identify: 0
creative: this shirt is actually fairly colorful and whimsical. and i'm totes wearing olive green tights with it.
young: these boots are definitely more casual and therefore feel younger to me for some reason. maybe it's because i painted the heels with silver glitter craft paint. oh yeah, that must be it.
professional: check. (gray pencil skirts are almost always professional.)

friday five: pattern poll
everybody's read the standard tips for pattern mixing: stay in the same color family, combine different scales of patterns, stripes go with everything, and such. this "cloud print" dress (they look more like badges to me, but maybe other places have perfectly geometric clouds and i'm just missing out) has been hanging around in my closet trying to befriend other patterns. i've been trying to figure out what to pair it with, and while the rules of pattern mixing provide some inspiration (see above), i want to attempt to be a little more creative with this. so, i need some help from any professional pattern mixers out there to help me decide which of these works and which is a little too anthro-catalog-explosion-ish. there's even a vote box below!

dotty, architects, and wearing black
[wearing]
dress: joie
cardigan: old navy
boots: target
rock collection/statement necklace: forever21
+
i was feeling less-than-creative this morning, but i knew i wanted to wear this chunky rock collection necklace. hence, i defaulted to my profession's uniform: all black. while i've avoided this before today it seemed kinda perfect for spending a quiet day at the office.

friday five: home
oh, hi! i'm going to try something new where on fridays i make of list of five things i like. i'm not really sure where this will go, but it seems like a good spot for non-outfits to hang out. this week, the five things are snippets of our home.
1. our picture ledge.
it needs some work still, but i like the direction it's headed in.
2. our bedroom window.
the cut layer is snow camouflage and the paper lamps have been following the boy for years.
3. our kitchen clock and lightbulbs.
the lights are a blik wall decal.
4. couch pillow tableau.
the furry one is a new friend that mysteriously ended up in my cart at target.
all the winter ones have gotten pushed to the back.
