it's fbff time again! and this week it's about COLOR!

1. what color dominates your closet?
gray. i oscillate between wanting to wear all neutrals and then wanting to wear tons of color. i even this out by mixing in more textures and patterns when i'm in a gray phase.
lately i've been gravitating towards deep oranges. currently, my super orange cowl and clay-colored dress are my superstars.
3. what is your mantra about mixing colors?
a have a couple of go-to combinations that i know that i love. for example, red and turquoise. the introduction of red into my closet happened within the last year in small amounts and has really changed my mind about super bright colors. i finally realized that don't feel comfortable wearing a whole bunch of a solid bright color, but i'm totally down with a skinny red belt. i think a lot of it has to do with being a quiet person.
it's funny because the work i do in school (and when i had a grownup job too) is all about color. i spent a whole semester on red. i'm frequently told that there's a certain shade of lime green that makes people think of my work.

it's usually just in accessories, so they are typically added after i figure out what clothes i'm wearing.
- a longtime favorite, the academichics rock some serious color and even give lessons
- a newer style-crush, kinsey from in kinsey's closet, can wears red like nobody's business
- branching out into the world of fantastically-saturated makeup, by hillary creates seriously awesome eyeshadow color pairings
- the other emily has convinced me of the amazing power of dark muted green (especially in the form of army jackets)
