1. i've pretty much grown out of my hoodies stage, however this fancy hoodie is still sticking around.  it's got a wee bit of cashmere in it and super slouchy dolman sleeves.
2.  a bunch of neutrals+some funny accessories?  i think this might be my new shopping strategy!  that way i can invest in nicer neutral basics and still buy some trendier accessories that i might lose interest in fairly quickly.
3. these quirky print shoes could use a good scrubbin' and are definitely not winter-friendly, but we've had a good summer together.

[three things]
1. summer layers!  this outfit was just a shorts+tee combo until i added some patterned shoes, a vest, and a chunky necklace.
2. i think i've been wearing this vest a lot.  scratch that, i know i've been wearing this vest a lot!  sometimes when i get something new it takes me awhile to add it to the regular rotation.  the first year that i had this coat i barely wore it at all and then the next winter i busted it out every time it was above puffer temperatures!
3. i rarely wear shorts, but i'm always happy to have a few pairs still around for when the end of summer rolls around and it's just straight up time to wear shorts.  did that make any sense?  basically, i meant when i get sick of all my summer dresses and it's hot out.  okay, yup, there we go.

[three things]
1. this tee is so ridiculously soft and perfectly slouchy.  i thought i had a go-to tee (seen here), but now it has some serious competition.
2. i finally joined the instagram cult and added a nifty widget for it over thurrrr on the right sidebar.  now you can find out just how often we go to the driving range and see what i've been eating.  find me over there as "dotasaurus".
3. i've been having some curl issues since i lopped off my wedding hair last month.  i got a diffuser (with hopes of consistently awesome curls) but so far it's been a total frizz-fest.  ugh.

recap: august

this month has been full of television marathons, beach trips, and getting through stressful summer workweeks with a good dose of starbucks runs, fun lunches, and happy hours with my co-worker crew.

i haven't put together a nice and organized collage yet, but it seems like it was a lot of neutral'd out outfits.  i think this farmer's market outfit post was my favorite and this kinda fall-ish work outfit is going to become a weekly occurence.  things seem to be easier for me in the mornings when i just decide to wear all neutrals instead of trying to figure out how to combine red and turquoise.


[buying]
after quite a few online orders for things that didn't quite work out, i ended up buying three things this month:
everlane ryan tee in gray: $25 (join here) this tee is slouchy and soft and altogether wonderful.
old navy workout tank: $11.95 (exactly) i have two favorite workout tanks and i find myself a lil disappointed when they are both in the laundry, so i have solved the problem by adding another similar one to my rotation.
old navy shiny toe flats: $21.55 (exactly) i already own these flats in a bunch of different colors (black, nude, black and white spots, and neon yellow) so when i retired two pairs of wornout gray flats in my last closet cleanout, this fancy-toed version was a logical replacement.
august total: $58.50.  yay!  after last month's ridonkulousness, this is a very good thing!  also, we are headed to nevada for labor day, so some nostalgic shopping adventures are definitely happening.  (we lived in las vegas for three years and definitely spent a lot of time at malls and pools.)  and probs some nostalgic poolside lazing too.  so yup, see y'all on the flip side!

[three things]
1. somehow in our bajillion moves i ended up with no flower vases, so a few weeks ago i stopped into a thrift store to pick up a heavy block of glass that could hold up to gladiolus stalks.  in my wandering, i spotted this slouchy cardigan that wasn't my size and decided that we should be friends.  i haven't gone thrifting in quite some time and i was pretty excited about some cheap thrills.
2. my husband has an awesome dress shirt collection which totally comes in handy when i am bored with my closet and want to wear an oversized shirt to work.
3. let's talk about black work pants for a second.  i used to think that wearing black dress pants was super boring and uncreative.  now i definitely understand the importance of having a great pair in my closet since they are such a versatile staple.

1. i have two very similar black silk loose dresses in my closet, but one is shiny and shorter and then there's this guy who is much better at going to work.
2. no feet today.  sorry!  i was wearing these shoes, so you're not missing anything terribly exciting.
3. this simple outfit was definitely exactly what i wanted to wear.  it's not anything interesting, but some days call for quiet clothes.
