dotty, shoe day, and a loud dress

spring outfit
[wearing]
jacket: mine (similar)
dress: philip lim x target
necklaces: forever21
clutch: h&m (similar)
shoes: jambu c/o onlineshoes.com (exactly)

[three things]
1. wedges, man.  this jambu pair that onlineshoes sent over are my kind of neutral, with a genius little orange elastic bit on sides.  ankle straps also greatly decrease the chances of me losing a shoe during my mid-afternoon milkshake runs.

2. i've never been part of a blogger contest before, so this is kinda making me a little bit nervous.  eep!  here's the deal: vote here, you could win a pair of shoes, and have a good afternoon.  even if you decide to vote for one of the other pretties involved, you're still in the running for froes (free shoes) and that's a good situation for eeerbody.

3. even though i've pretty much banished brights from my closet, this stretchtastic philip lim x target dress is still holding its own.  and it's orange.  not bright orange, but still pretty orange-ish.

valentine's day, a lil bit of red, and not much pink

VALENTINES2

here's the thing, i don't really wear pink. i think i have removed all pink from my closet with the exception of this scarf.  so, to get ready for valentine's day, i've been searching through my archives to find some ideas for dressing subtlely valentine's-ish.

fall outfit, what to wear to work, work outfit, skinny dress pants, outfit ideas
option one: red shoes.  these ones even have ridiculous gold spikes on the back.  they say "i'm festive, but i will cut you."

july outfits, red sweatshirt, pencil skirt, casual pencil
option two: casual red.  it's about time for this sweatshirt to make another appearance.  it's been out of rotation since i've been wearing more neutrals, but i love the metallic foil print.

VALENTINES3
option three: mix it up.  mixing together rusty orange, dusty rose, and red made this one of my favorite outfits of that season.

dash dot dotty
option four: statement piece with neutrals.  this cheery red is definitely super bright, but mixing it with neutrals makes it part of a team.

option five: contrasting colors.  how about red with goldenrod or purple instead of the usual pink&red combination?

dotty, some brights, and day twenty-six

26
[wearing]
sweatshirt: h&m
necklace: ebay
pants: theory (similar)
wedges: elie tahari
clutch: zara (similar)

[three things]
1. i rarely wear shirt+pants outfits since i love layering so much, but these suit pants are kind of perfect for pairing with simple tops.

2. dude, brights!  this necklace totes needs a crewneck neckline to adequately display its (borderline) obnoxious brightness.  oh, and it obvious travels with this orange clutch.

3. i've only worn this sweatshirt one other time in the remix (find the post back here) and well, i kinda forgot about it.  sorry, sweatshirt!  your ruffles and meshy sleeves do not deserve such neglect!

dotty, turquoise, and day twenty-two

fall outfits
[wearing]
dress: theory
scarf: souvenir (similar)
tights: simply vera (exactly)
wedges: elie tahari (similar)
bag: phillip lim for target

[three things]
1. this scarf makes so much more sense next to our extra guest chairs.  unfortunately, there are no turquoise chairs in my office.  we do have a wobbler though.

2. i went through a phase where i would buy scarves whenever we would travel.  partially because i am always cold in planes, trains, and automobiles, so they can double as blankets.  now that i work in a cold office, the blanket factor is definitely coming back into play.

3. these tights are actually a muted olive green, but they tend to just look gray-ish.  you can kinda see the color better back in this post.

dotty, fancy earrings, and day twenty

twenty, anjolee diamond hoop earrings
[wearing]
jacket: zara
dress: suzi chin
tights: target
shoes: merona
necklace: forever21
bracelet: inpink
earrings: c/o anjolee (exactly)
bag: phillip lim for target

[three things]
1. anjolee sent over these super sparkly diamond hoop earrings and i am definitely a big fan.  they are the perfect combination of size and bling for an everyday earring.

2. heidi (find her blog over here) challenged me a few weeks ago to wear my rust tights again.  i have to admit that it took quite a few tries to find the right outfit for them.  they tend to look a bit halloween-ish with black, but apparently are perfect with mauvey-grayish-taupe dresses.

3. this snakeskin shoes with colored tights combination is a little out there, but i like idea of grouping two statement pieces together.

dotty, spotted tweed, and day thirteen

day thirteen
[wearing]
dress: phillip lim for target
cardigan: j.crew via thredup (join here and save ten dollar-dollar-bills)
boots: forever21 (exactly)
necklaces: forever21+h&m

[three things]
1. this dress is just so fun and bright.  and it gets along well with my grandma cardigan!

2. i used to be much more adventurous with my tights colors (evidence here and here) and now that winter is setting in, maybe i should bust out my crazy tights box.

3. hmm...i've got no third today.  happy wednesday?  ever since that hump day camel commercial, a bunch of my co-workers feel the need to reenact it every.  single.  wednesday.  morning.  it has lost all funnies by this point.

dotty, a furry scarf, and day seven

november outfit
[wearing]
print dress: phillip lim for target
jacket: theory (exactly)
boots: stuart weitzman (similar)
scarf: christopher and banks
bag: phillip lim for target

creative: a colorful print!  since i seem to have picked almost all dark neutrals for my thirty/thirty, this dress is just a ray of sunshine.
young: yup, it's still animal print even if it's abstract and orange.
professional: suit jacket to the rescue!

dotty, chevron leopards, and day four

lim leopard dress, black with navy, pattern mixing outfit, chevrons and leopard, vest outfits, dash dot dotty, the vest or nothing
[wearing]
print dress: phillip lim for target
chevron cardigan: forever21 (similar)
trench vest: forever21 (similar)
fleece-lined tights: legale
boots: forever21 (exactly)
bag: phillip lim for target
necklace: stella and dot

[three things]
1. yay, patternz!

2. i included not one, but two vests in my remix lineup since i'm going to need my layer standbys to make this work.

3. i made a soup last weekend that was carrot-tomato-beef-red pepper-quinoa-tortellini.  this is the outfit equivalent of that.

dotty, a few greens, and day two

november outfit, 30 remix, thirty for thirty, neon green with olive green, layers and vests, fall layers, what to wear to work
[wearing]
neon cardigan: target
olive vest: forever21
print shirt: h&m
pants: j.crew factory (exactly)
flats: old navy (exactly)
bag: phillip lim for target

+
it's already only tuesday again, so let's break things down again.  and there's a bunch more posts like this one over yonder if you're into post-rationalization.
creative: two greens!  i included this cardigan in my remix to get myself to wear it more and i really like how it looks with olive green.
young: um yeah, about that vest with a bunch of studs and pockets.  is this the girl equivalent of wearing cargo pants to work?
professional: we joke at work that these flats count as steel-toed and therefore appropriate for construction sites.  my actual steel-toed work boots are a muddy disaster, so these are definitely not site shoes.

dotty, rust, and red

layered over a dress, dash dot dotty, what to wear to work, fall wok outfits, rust with red, joie silk dress
[wearing]
jacket: zara
sweater: forever21 (exactly)
dress underneath: joie
super opaque tights: legale
boots: forever21 (exactly)
giant red bag: j.crew factory

[three things]
1. this rust-colored silk dress was my first of the three colors that all live in my closet.  the black version (seen here in an old post) and gray version (seen here this past summer) are definitely less memorable.

2. after carrying around my black phillip lim for target bag for quite awhile nonstop, i figured a day with the giant red bag was in order.  and i had just painted my fingernails to match!

3. i wore this rust+red combination earlier this month with totally different pieces and really liked how it was still a fairly neutraled out outfit, but wasn't my usual graysscale combination of pieces.

dotty, spots, and brie

september outfit
[wearing]
jacket: michael michael kors (similar)
dress: phillip lim x target (exactly)
bag:  phillip lim x target
flats: old navy (exactly)

[three things]
1. i wore this out to dinner the other night to a fancy cheese market.  oh em gee, cheeeeeese!  i already knew that i like me some cheese, but we had this baked brie with figs that was just amazing.

2. this dress is assymetrical ruched on one side, so i kept tugging at it to even it out, but there's extra fabric on one side to keep it even for me.  doh.  hopefully i'll get used to this eventually.

3. jacket weather!  i bought this pretty three years ago after eyeing it at nordstrom rack for weeks.  i almost bought a cream-colored one instead, but methinks black was the right decision.

dotty, mustard, and turquoise

dash dot dotty, diane von furstenberg mustard dress, lattice dress, dvf silk dress, turquoise and mustard, merona maye pumps, snakeskin pumps, what to wear to work, wearing color to work, ootd, style blog
[wearing]
dress: dvf (similar)
scarf: souvenir (similar)
giant bag: banana republic (similar)
shoesies: target (exactly, but they're on clearance in store)
sunnies: ray-ban
earrings: forever21 (exactly)

creative: mustard and mint!  together!  oh wait, i've done this before.
young: this dress has a lattice pattern at the top which makes it pretty fun, but definitely in need of a layer to make it appropriate for work.  the loose fit and long(ish) length help tone it down too.
professional: mid-height heels and a coordinating giant leather bag.  done.
