Lately I've got my eye on two new shoe purchases--blush pink flats and some sort of interesting fall boot.  If I wear the same black boots all winter like I did last year my shoooooes column on my Instagram feed is really going to suffer.  #priorities

weekend wishlist: uncommon goods

wishlist_uncommon goods
+
Since we moved in to our new place a few weeks ago, we've working non-stop to de-blue the space.  The seller had painted the whole place (even the closets and bathrooms!) a very sad shade of blue-gray that I have been calling "Eeyore Blue."  Many, many coats of primer later, our living room is finally super white and ready for us to start working on the design and decoration of the space, not just the sad wall color.  This is where Uncommon Goods comes in to help freshen up our home decor.

one: Micro-Green Kits.  We finally have some outdoor space, so I'm excited to see what we can actually grow on our fairly windy balcony.

two: The Bicycle Encyclopedic Print.  My beloved Linus is stored downstairs with all his bicycle cousins, but this print combines three of my favorite things: clean graphics, encyclopedias, and bicycles.

three: Geometric and Honeycomb Pillows.  Our collection of assorted couch pillows could really use an upgrade.  And obviously the answer is hexagons.

four: Vintage Camera Pillows.  Another acceptable answer to the pillow question is vintage cameras.

five: Photobotanicus Fern Statement Pillow.  Since my mister is a bit plant-obsessed, this ferny pillow would fit right in.

six: Rope Knot Doorstop - Twine Ball.  Since we live in a highrise, the corridor to the elevator is pressurized, so when we open the balcony door we create a serious wind tunnel.

seven: Astral Wall Hangings.  These are just so pretty and have a great mid-century cocktail hour vibe.

p.s. This post is sponsored by Uncommon Goods, but I wholeheartedly support their mission to have a positive impact in the world and their workplace.  I am all for fair wages and gorgeous objects.

spring wishlist: light neutrals

wishlist_0225

one, two, three, and four.

1. I've been spending a lot of time on light fixture selection at work and it's making me think more and more about how well-designed lighting can make a humongous difference in a space.  At home it might be time to upgrade a bit from the Ikea lighting department.  Sorry, Ortofta and Husinga, but it just ain't gonna happen.

2. Buying a tee with a giant number seven on it and successfully dressing it up for work with a blazer and heels has made me want some other graphic tee options.  Aaaaand I might have sent my middle niece this adorable tee that says "hello" on the front and "goodbye" on the back and gotten a little jealous that it only comes in toddler sizes.

3. I'm a big fan of Clinique face products and I've seen this contouring bronzer stick popping a bunch on the internets lately.  Has anyone tried it that was not paid to say it's great?  Like you legit like it?

4. Rose blush might be my new jam.  If only my daily commute didn't involve slush and public transit.  (The two mortal enemies of light pink leather.)

weekend wishlist: fun flats

back when i started working i had this grand idea to have a pair of shoes in every color of the rainbow.  (i think i only got to purple, yellow, and turquoise.)  while i've abandoned brights since then, i've amassed a serious collection of patterned flats over the last few years.  unfortunately, a few of my favorites are showing signs of wear from all my puddle-stomping and chair-kicking (i kick my heel against my desk chair while i work...weird, shoe-destroying habit fo sho).  so i'm on the hunt for some fun replacements before boot season starts 'round here.

easy combinations of light neutrals sound so wonderful right about now.  if only it would stop raining for a lil bit.

weekend wishlist: commuter shoes

commuter shoes, shopping picks, cute and comfy shoes, walk all day shoes, city shoes,
one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, and eight.

pretty much every summer i have an internal debate between wearing cute sandals and not getting blisters.  we walk A LOT in the summer and shoes that are just okay at the one mile mark are usually a disaster by the end of the day.  my plan this year is to start the summer with a trusty pair or two of travellin' shoes to avoid some of the shissues (shoe issues) that i usually encounter.

weekend wishlist: long-term purchases

wishlist_0209

since one of my big goals for the year is to shop more long-term, so i've been trying to focus on making sticking with a list of bigger purchases to save up for.  so far i've been doing alright with not buying things just because they are a deal.  i went to t.j. maxx with a friend and only bought a pack of ridiculously glittery nail files and then i brightened some of my co-workers days with some glittery goodness, since i definitely don't need six of those guys.  anyway, in january all i bought was two cozy sweaters (a cowlneck seen here and a giant cardigan seen here) which have made this dreadful winter a wee bit better.

moving forward, i plan on sticking with my plan to stop buying cheap clothes entirely (i posted about it back here) since i know that it's a slippery slope of free shipping minimums and coupon codes.  i also started a list of specific items to fill gaps in my current wardrobe:

one: a raincoat.  i have a bajillion winter coats, but nothing waterproof for non-freezing rain.  i'm looking for either a classic trench that's waterproof or a more casual parka in olive green.
(mango parka pictured above)

two: pleated work pants.  the most perfect pair ever eventually wore out (see them here, also i want that hair back) and this zara pair appears to be the same cut.
(zara trousers pictured above)

three: friday pants.  now that my office has casual fridays, i'm in the market for a pair of neutral jean-like pants to mix things up.  some sort of print or texture would be good too.
(zara jeans pictured above)

four: a lady bag.  i want to combine the satchel-ness of my philip lim x target bag (seen here and pretty much everyday) and the color and quality of my banana republic tote (seen here).  i already own the matching wallet for this bag (seen here) and have been super duper happy with it.
(marc jacobs "classic q lil ukita" pictured above)

five: a statement dress.  i wear my theory lightning-print dress all the time (seen here) and i think a mirrored-print dress would look amazing with a plain jacket.
(asos "woodland print midi" pictured above)

six: d'orsay flats.  i love me some pointy-toed flats, but i have yet to find a pair that doesn't look too cruella deville-ish.
