1. i have two very similar black silk loose dresses in my closet, but one is shiny and shorter and then there's this guy who is much better at going to work.
2. no feet today.  sorry!  i was wearing these shoes, so you're not missing anything terribly exciting.
3. this simple outfit was definitely exactly what i wanted to wear.  it's not anything interesting, but some days call for quiet clothes.

creative: print mixing!  i like the combination of a graphic print with an animal print, so this combination is right up my alley.

professional: something about being all neutraled out, wearing a pencil skirt, and adding plain wedges makes this more office-ish.

dotty, giant pants, and that vest again

1. i haven't worn these crazy pants in awhile, but pairing them with my favorite summer vest made some weekend outfit sense to me.
2. i kinda love that you can't see my shoes at all when i'm wearing these pants.
3. we've got a short work week and i have to leave on time on thursay, so yyyyyeah this is gonna be awesome!  (by awesome i mean i have a ton to get done before then, but on thursday at four it's go time!)

1. i bought this jacket last month and figured i would have to wait until fall rolled around to be able to wear it.  but then last week the temperature dropped a bit and this pleather-sleeved jacket suddenly became an option.  i like that this jacket is kinda in-between outerwear and indoorwear (that's not a word, but "innerwear" sounds even weirder.)
2. i think i'm going through a serious neutrals phase.  i go back and forth between wanting to wear a bunch of brights and wanting to wear blacks and grays.  luckily, i've got plenty of options for both moods, so i can make the switch pretty easily.
3. hmmm, i've got no third thing today.

1. this striped jacket has only made one other blog appearance since i bought it last month, but it is definitely becoming a favorite.
2. i was re-organizing my closet and found this scarf hiding in a suitcase.  oh hi, awesome pattern!  i think this was the last time i wore it.
3. this dress is a wee bit too short for work and i had kinda forgotten about it until the plotter was out of the paper i needed and i had to do a bunch of lifting and reaching to re-load it.  maybe next time i'll just print on giant paper and cut the sheets down.  or leave the plotter empty like eeeerbody else does.  lazy bums.

dotty, slouchy, and slouchy

creative: these pajama-like pants can sometimes look a bit um...pajama-ish, so i tend to avoid pairing them with looser tops.  this combination of slouchy and slouchy was so comfy though and i think it works.  (question mark?)
young: bright clutch!  it fits so nicely into my work tote for when i go to meetings and our company logo is orange and green, so it's totes coordinated.
professional: ooooookay, this isn't a very "professional" outfit, but it's so much better than the khaki+polo combination that is somehow everybody's summer uniform.

dotty, field vests, and a casual day at work

[three things]
1. i knew i had to spend the day doing some field verification, so i purposefully wore something with lots of pockets to carry around all my measuring+documenting tools.  fun fact: my two first words were snowman and pockets.
2. because i knew i was going to be out of the office and was going to spending time with more people wearing overalls than suits, i dressed accordingly.  i was not violating any dress code rules, but was definitely not dressed for meeting any clients.
3. i've bought two new vests this summer (the other one is white) and i think my vest collection is just the right size now.
