dotty, wishing for musicals, and tiny hearts

[wearing]
jacket: zara (similar)
heart-print shirt: juicy couture (exactly)
pants: theory (similar)
flats: zara (similar)
bag: phillip lim for target

[three things]
1. i couldn't find this blouse in my size while i was shopping last weekend, so i went with one size up and i really like the combination of an oversized fit with the girly heart print.

2. i rarely wear all black, but this is pretty darn close.  the shoes and body of the jacket are both dark gray, but really it's pretty much a blackout.  i used to have a problem with this because it seemed boring or something, but i'm totes okay with it now.  it's all pieces i like and there's some bits of personality thrown into the mix.

3. i was on-site yesterday and all of a sudden it was sweeping hour or something.  some guy walked through with a bag of sweeping compound and brooms appeared out of nowhere.  and then all the heavy-duty construction radios started playing elton john's "bennie and the jets".  one guy sweeping started singing along and i thought for a second that maybe i was in the middle of a musical that takes place at a construction site.  but then everybody just kept working and there was no choreographed dance number with brooms as i had hoped.  talk about disappointing!

dotty, slouchy favorites, and blargh

october outfit
[wearing]
hoodie: forever21
dress underneath: rachel rachel roy (exactly)
boots: target (similar)
bag: phillip lim for target

[three things]
1. this was the easiest combination of a new favorite (the dress), an old favorite (a cashmere-blend slouchy hoodie), and some tough-looking boots.

2. i've been really liking the in-between weather when i get to wear boots and scarves, but can almost get away with not busting out tights yet.

3. i got a weird haircut last month while we were on vacation.  (yeah, i know, that wasn't a good idea!)  i got it lowlighted at the same time and that turned out just fine, however cut on the back of my hair is um...questionable at best.  i don't even know how to describe the badness, but september probably wasn't the best month to give curly hair a shot.  i want to get it cut again soon, but don't really want it any shorter.  blargh.

weekend wishlist: fancy pants

weekend wishlist_two
one, two, three, and four.

+
i had a tough week at work and so all i've been wanting to wear is the softest sweatpants i can find!  since i don't tend to leave the house in my flannel polka dot jammies, i'm in the market for some dressed up sweats for post-work lazies and saturday morning errands.

p.s.
tramanh of phi-style rocks sweatpants like nobunny's business if you're looking for some inspiration.

dotty, rusty orange, and red shoes

fall outfit, what to wear to work, work outfit, skinny dress pants, outfit ideas
[wearing]
jacket: zara (similar)
top: joie (similar)
pants: old navy (exactly)
flats: steve madden (exactly)
scarf: forever21 (similar)
bag: phillip lim for target

[three things]
1. yup, you saw these pants earlier this week already.  this is just a glimpse into how often i've been wearing them.

2. i feel much more comfortable wearing little bits of color rather than all-over brightness.  this red+rust combination felt like the perfect outfit for my day.  and it made my fire-engine red nails fit right it.

3. last year the entrance to our building was renovated and they put in this darling mosaic tile.  it's a slippery disaster in the winter, but it's a great background for shoe photos.

dotty, springtime, and novelty shoes

september outfit
[wearing]
sweatshirt dress: madewell
jacket: h&m
flats: old navy
bag: phillip lim for target
necklace: light in the box + a bracelet

[three things]
1. springtime called.  it wants its jacket back.  anyway, i was putting away all my summer clothes for the winter and noticed that this eastery jacket did not get much love this summer.  so it's making one last appearance before spending the next six months in a box.

2. patterned jacket, textured dress, and patterned shoes.  bam!  i think this might be why a basic black bag was a good idea.

3. i want it to stay pleasantly warmish with just a slight chill forever.

dotty, necessipants, and a few patterns

september outfit
[wearing]
sweater: vince (similar)
dotted pants: old navy (exactly)
scarf: forever21 (similar)
loafers: zara (similar)
bag: phillip lim for target

[three things]
1. scarves are making so much sense right about now and i am loving it.

2. i was down to one pair of site visit pants, so this stretchy pair that is basically the non-denim version of these pants i own, were definitely a good addition to the closet.  they were cheap enough that when they inevitably get ruined by some sort of construction adhesive it will all be okay.

3. can i just wear stretchy pants and an oversized sweater every day to work?

dotty, a cozy sweater, and scarf weather

rachel rachel roy white dress, wearing white after labor day, pattern mixing, big sweater with a dress
[wearing]
dress: rachel rachel roy (exactly)
cardigan: forever21 (similar)
scarf: ebay (similar)
belt: thrifted
flats: zara
bag: phillip lim for target

creative: pattern mixing!  and all these layers helped me adjust to all the different conference room temperatures i deal with on the daily.
young: um...about that leopard print.  and the bedazzled flats.  yyyyeah.
professional: belting this dress to make it less sack-like (not that there's anything wrong with being a sack) makes it seem more grownup.  oh, and a baller black purse.
