it's time for another creative young professional post!  yes!
creative: i'm dressed as a cream to gray gradient.  that's gotta be worth some points.
young: lace mini skirt.  i think that's all that needs to be said.  this skirt is ridiculously short when i wear it at my natural waist, but the elastic waistband allows for low riding to add a few inches to the hemline.
professional: i thrifted this tie-neck blouse that was totally worn by a professional typist in the 80s, so maybe i'll type extra fast today.  this outfit is pretty much the work appropriate version of an outfit i wore back in september on a weekend.

this look reminds me a whole lot of rebecca's of minnchic's style.  maybe it's the colored tights or sandals, i'm not sure, but i like the ease of this.  oh, and this dress has pockets which is always good.

currently (and probably for quite awhile) i fall under the category of "creative young professional" meaning that i work in an artsy-ish field with a business casual dress code.  i have worked in offices with a wide variety of interpretations of business casual, from flip flops to suit separates to dressing like a real live construction worker.  i tend to fall somewhere in the middle of these options because my duties are well, somewhere in the middle.  whenever i write a description of this little blog i write about how to make dressing "business casual" more fantastic.  by this i mean putting some personality into workfits (work outfits) and not sticking to some preconceived notion of what grownups (or professionals) dress like.  so, this is the beginning of a series i will be doing called creative young professional (yup, super exciting name) in which i break down a workfit into those three components.

ok, so today's outfit:
creative: the rust and turquoise color combination is a bit unconventional, but i've tried it before and really liked it.
young: this dress is basically a giant wool sweater
professional: the neutral belt and shoes turn the sweater into legitimate work dress (whereas beltless and with bunny slippers it veers in the other direction)

this was pretty much my uniform while i was at home: warm sweater, leggings, boots, socks, scarf.  it was perfect for eating cookies, playing with my nieces, redboxing like crazy, and shopping for all sorts of things.  now we're back in the city and i'm going through cookie withdrawal.
